In general, all all horror trailers include either, blood, gore, scary scenes, jumpy bits, quick editing, and the best horror trailers...all of these things. However; me and my class mate aren't going to follow the lines of bloody and gore to an extent to which most do, but focus more on the freaky, unusual happenings side, planning to scare our viewers this way instead.
Also, all good horror trailers give a brief insight to the story line if not more. This is something we are really wanting to do and plan to do at the beginning with some writing, as well as the rest of the footage we use throughout the trailer. We already had thought of this as we were writing our story board and have drawn up a shot/scene in the trailer that includes one of the characters sort of explaining that "weird stuff has been going on in the house".
Furthermore; another key factor we wish to include, which we will check after publishing a questionnaire, is that the trailer makes the view want to go and see the film and find out more about the film! The main purpose of a trailer for a upcoming film, is to get a many people to come and watch the film as possible and buy a ticket. If a trailer does not do this, less people will want to go and see it, not as many tickets will be sold, and therefore the film is more likely to make a financial loss. My class mate and I plan to place a question in our questionnaire asking whether or not the person would want to go and see the film at the cinema. If the general answer is a no, we will continue to edit the trailer to make it better, taking into consideration how the viewers think we could make it better and get them to want to watch it at a cinema.
